Welcome to

Turua School

Nestled between Ngatea and Thames in a peaceful semi-rural setting, Turua School is a vibrant learning community where every child is encouraged to be their best. Our school is built on strong values—Manaakitanga, Kotahitanga, Ako, and Whanaungatanga—and as a PB4L school, these guide everything we do.

We offer rich learning experiences across all curriculum areas, including Literacy, Numeracy, The Arts, Physical Education, Science, Technology, and Cultural learning. Programmes such as Garden to Table, specialist technology classes for our Year 7–8 students, and a strong focus on play-based learning in the junior school provide hands-on, authentic opportunities for growth. Every child also belongs to a Waka Rōpū—Arawa, Tainui or Takitimu—which builds belonging and pride through school-wide events and friendly competition.

We value strong connections with our whānau and wider community. Communication is a priority, with a weekly newsletter and Class Dojo used to keep families updated. Our open-door approach and special events—like the Whānau Picnic, Grandparents Day, Matariki celebrations and the Pumpkin Festival—help strengthen these connections. Turua School is a place where learners thrive, relationships matter, and tamariki feel safe, seen, and supported. We warmly welcome all enquiries and would love to show you what makes our school so special. Please feel free to look around our website to find out more about our school.
